Bude Area Community Jury on Climate Change meets for the first time

The Bude Area Community Jury on Climate Change met for the first time last weekend (23 & 24 September, 2003), to debate and discuss one key question:

"How can we respond to a changing climate, including sea level rise, to support our community to thrive?"

The Jury is made up of just under 40 people who were randomly selected from all those who registered interest in the Community Jury (170+), following a mailout in August to every household in the wider Bude area. Jury members range from 16-80+ years old and represent the demographic make-up of the wider Bude area almost perfectly.

The Jury members heard from lead commentators in the following four areas over the weekend:

What is climate change?

Local emissions

Sea level rise

How to make change happen?

Full details - including videos of the commentator presentations and slides and all the background to the Jury - can be found on a new dedicated website for the Community Jury, which you can find at www.budeclimatejury.org, or via the button below.
